South Korean producer Kumho P&B Chemicals has shut one of its two operating bisphenol A (BPA) lines this week at its Yeocheon petrochemical complex for scheduled maintenance. They have shut one line on Monday and will shut the other line [Friday] afternoon and the shutdown would last until 21 May. The turnarounds at the two lines, which have a nameplate capacity of around 150,000 tonnes/year each, would effectively cap spot volumes to the key Chinese market, with existing inventory levels only sufficient to supply contractual demand. Kumho has a third 35,000 tonne/year BPA line at the Yeocheon complex, which was mothballed in June last year.
