China’s SSMC shuts BPA plant on technical problems

Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals (SSMC) has stopped production at its 120,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) plant in China last month due to technical problems. The plant, located at the Shanghai Chemicals Industrial Park (SCIP), has been running sporadically since its start up in December 2008. It was taken off line on March 23 and has remained closed so far. When the plant will restart is not sure. Maybe one week or two weeks, or even longer.
