Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics (Nan Ya) was forced to reduce its overall MEG production to 25-30% following the explosion at Formosa Petrochemical’s (FPCC) naphtha cracker on Monday.
Na Ya will temporarily reduce production at its 700,000 tonne/year MEG No 4 line to 70-80% and keep its other three MEG lines shut effective today. The company procures ethylene feedstock for MEG production from FPCC’s crackers.
Nan Ya had initially planned to run its three smaller MEG lines, each with 350,000 tonnes/year capacity, in March.
