China’s Yankuang Cathay Coal Chemicals Co plans to shut its 600,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at Tengzhou city, Shandong province, from 16 to 26 October for a turnaround.The plant has two production lines, each with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year and they are currently producing 1,500 to 1,600 tonnes per day . Local sources said the maintenance shutdown was unlikely to affect spot acetic acid prices due to ample supply.Inventories are high and buyers are not making bulk purchases due to bearish sentiment.
