Celanese on Wednesday denied a market source’s claim that its Clear Lake acetic acid unit in Texas was closed. Celanese spokesman Travis Jacobsen on Tuesday refused to say whether the plant was running, saying it was company policy not to comment on the operational status of its plants. On Wednesday, however, Celanese issued a statement saying the plant has been running since November.
