China’s Zhongyuan Dahua Group shut its 60,000 tonne/year melamine plant in the city of Puyang in central Henan province last week due to a shortage of natural gas supply.The plant would be shut for around two to three months. The plant has three lines; one with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes /year while the other two can produce 15,000 tonnes/year of melamine each. Natural gas shortage has also forced Chongqing Jianfeng Chemical to shut down its 30,000 tonne/year melamine unit in southwestern city of Chongqing on 17 November for two months.
