US-based Tronox Incorporated, among the world’s largest titanium dioxide producers (TiO2), has announced a price increase for its products sold in Asia and Latin America. TiO2 prices in Asia Pacific and Latin America would increase by $50/tonne (€35/tonne) and $100/tonne respectively, effective July 1, 2009, the company said in a press statement late on Monday. The company is the third producer to publicly announce a price hike in Asia. DuPont Titanium Technologies announced a $50/tonne price increase last week while Kronos proposed a $100/tonne price increase two weeks ago. Tronox said recovering TiO2 demand and the need for better margins were behind the price increase.
