范先生： 台塑停车12 November 2010 10:02 [Source: ICIS news] SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwanese petrochemical major Formosa Plastics Corporation has unexpectedly shut down its 250,000 tonne/year n-butanol (NBA) plant on 10 November following a government directive for a safety check and maintenance works, a company source said on Friday. The facility at Mailiao was initially due to be taken off line on 22 November for around one week for pipeline expansion works. “We have shut the plant. This [shutdown] was not planned and will take two to three weeks. We will definitely face shortages, especially for December cargoes,” he said, adding the priority is to provide supply to its downstream acrylic acid and acrylate esters plants. About 60% of the plant’s NBA output is for captive use in its downstream butyl acrylate (butyl-A) units in Mailiao and Kaohsiung, while the remaining 40% of its output is for exports.
