South Korea’s KP Chemical is currently running all its units producing PTA, PX and PIA at full capacity at Ulsan. The company’s 350,000 tonne/year No.2 PTA was shut for maintenance for two weeks in February while its 500,000 tonne/year No.3 facility restarted in January. KP Chemicals 250,000 tonne/year No.1 swing facility, which can produce both PIA and PTA, is also running at full capacity but was only making PIA. The company also operates two PX facilities in Ulsan with a combined nameplate capacity of about 700,000 tonnes/year. Its 500,000 tonne/year No.2 unit was restarted on 24 January following a turnaround earlier in the month.
