(ICIS news)--Dozens of chemical plants will be built in China’s Dongying Port Economic Development Zone, eastern Shandong province, in the next five years under plans revealed by the vice director of a local development bureau on Wednesday. “Dongying port has a good geographic advantage and plentiful fresh water resources, very suitable for the production of chemical plants,” said Zhou Feng, vice director of Dongying Port Economic Development Zone Investment Promotion Bureau. “We welcome companies to invest in Dongying and bring Dongying to a petrochemical hub,” he added on the sidelines of a Dongying Port Economic Development Zone Investment Promotion Fair. According to Zhou, the new facilities would include: a plant with the capacity to produce 90,000 tonnes/year of ethylene and 200,000 tonnes/year of propylene; a 200,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) plant; a 100,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) unit; a 240,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone plant; a 50,000 tonne/year nitrile rubber (NBR) line; and a 40,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) facility. Other planned facilities include: a 100,000 tonne/year styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) plant; a 100,000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) unit; a 160,000 tonne/year bisphenol-A (BPA) plant; a 100,000 tonne/year epoxy resin unit; and a 100,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) unit. 东营港经济开发区在未来5年将建很多化工装置，因为东营港有良好的地理位置和大量的淡水资源。据悉，新设备将包括：年产9万的乙烯装置和年产20万的丙烯装置；年产20万的苯乙烯装置；年产10万的丙烯腈装置；年产24万的苯酚-丙酮装置；年产5万的NBR装置；年产4万的MMA装置。其他还包括：年产10万的SBS装置；年产10万的环氧树脂装置；年产10万的PC装置。
