According to ICIS: Shanghai Secco Petrochemical plans to shut its 900,000 tonne/year cracker and its derivative styrene monomer (SM) unit in Caojing, eastern China, for de-bottlenecking in May. The cracker’s ethylene capacity will increase by a third to 1.2 m tonnes/year, said a source. The duration of the cracker shutdown has yet to be finalised, he added. The SM plant's capacity, on the other hand, will grow 30% to 650,000 tonnes/year after the de-bottlenecking process, said another source.
