SMI to shut No 1 SM unit in November

Styrindo Mono Indonesia (SMI) may shut its 100,000 tonne/year No 1 SM unit in Merak early next month due to weak demand.It might be restarted in January next year. Its 250,000 tonne/year No 2 unit at the same site would continue to operate in the fourth quarter.
