Nan Ya Plastics has further delayed the start-up of its second epoxy resins plant in Kunshan, eastern China, to 2010 or even 2011 due to prevailing weak market conditions, a source close to the company said on Thursday. Nan Ya had earlier planned to start up the second plant by the third quarter of 2009 but this had to be postponed to 2010-2011 due to lacklustre demand in the economic downturn, the source said. The plant will have a nameplate capacity of 180,000 tonnes/year and will produce a mixture of liquid, solid and brominated epoxy grades. Its first 130,000 tonne/year plant at the same site can produce 50,000 tonnes/year of liquid grade, 30,000 tonnes/year of solid grade, and 50,000 tonnes/year of brominated epoxy grade.
