(Icis)US EPS imports were down by 8% during the period of January through August compared with the same period last year, according to trade data released on Monday. The US imported 117,247 tonnes during the first eight months of this year, compared with 127,998 during the same period last year, according to the US International Trade Commission (ITC). The US imported 15,436 tonnes of EPS in August, a decline from the 17,575 tonnes imported in July, according to the ITC. The reduction suggested that domestic demand was slowing down. The Bahamas was the top EPS supplier to the US in August with 4,532 tonnes, although imports were less than the 4,745 tonnes recorded in July. Mexico took second place in August with 4,056 tonnes, a figure that was also lower than the 5,597 tonnes imported in July.
