Asia’s largest phenol-acetone producer, Mitsui Chemicals, plans to shut its plant in Osaka, Japan, for a scheduled maintenance. The plant, which produces 200,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 120,000 tonnes/year of acetone, would be taken off line in end-June for around one month. The firm also runs two plants in Chiba. One produces 230,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, and the other has a nameplate capacity of 190,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 114,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
