China’s largest caustic soda producer Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical (SCAC) has been running its plants at 50-80% of capacity, with further production cuts possible if prices fail to improve. The company’s 540,000 tonne/year caustic soda facility in Caojing was running at 80% while its 300,000 tonne/year facility in Wujing was is only running at 50%.
