Japan’s Tosoh to shut Yokkaichi caustic soda unit in March

Japan’s Tosoh Corp will shut its 184,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant in Yokkaichi for a one-month maintenance shutdown starting mid March. The caustic soda plant would be shut simultaneously with Tosoh’s 527,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at the same site. Tosoh also has a 950,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant in Nanyo, which would operate normally during the Yokkaichi plant turnaround.
