姚静： There was little encouragement that the malaise in the NWE phenol market was likely to change, sources confirmed this week. One producer underlined the depressed conditions saying, "we are seeing a quite dramatic market. You get monthly orders from customers and then 2 days later, they call to already reduce volume." A second producer added that reductions in projected monthly off-take from customers could be as high as 50% in some circumstances. April was not expected to offer a lifeline, with the Easter period more likely to further reduce downstream demand. A producer noted, "there is nothing positive from the poly carbonate sector and phenol resins. Caprolactam is stable at low levels and people have some hope from China, but this is just hope at the moment, not firm." With contract volumes not being reached, there was little in the way of spot activity, although sources believed prices would follow the fall in the monthly feedstock benzene contract.
